Our Pre-School classrooms are designed to provide an age-appropriate education in a loving and nurturing environment. At this age we start to introduce a more structured academic experience. We strive to provide many opportunities throughout the day that allow the children to learn through hands-on experiences.
Children at this age are naturally cooperative and inquisitive, along with being more social than in their toddler years. We strive to provide an environment that allows children to grow through their curious nature, social skills, and love of learning. Our teachers use the Creative Curriculum program, which allows the teachers the ability to customize their lesson plans to the interests and skill levels of the children currently in their classroom.
The children have a set schedule each day. This encourages routine and consistency, along with a feeling of security in knowing what will be happening in their day. “Group” time is offered each day. This is the time of day when the teacher introduces academic concepts and leads discussions on classroom topics. “Group” time is also when calendar, weather, and group reading occurs. Every week a “letter of the week” is introduced. The children are taught the formation, sound, and items that begin with this letter. As children progress, they are offered time to begin working on handwriting. Information is posted each day in the classroom to let you know about the activities that have taken place during the day.
