Our Private Kindergarten program provides a full day of academic education. Kindergarten is offered Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The full day of care (6:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.) is included in tuition. With our small class size (average 15 students) and full day program, we are able to provide small group and individual time to meet each student’s strengths and weaknesses.
Along with offering a full day Private Kindergarten program, we also offer a half day Kindergarten program with busing to several local elementary schools. Children spend either their morning or afternoon at their public school and spend the other half of the day integrated into our Kindergarten program. Please check the Belle’s and Beau’s location closest to you to find the elementary schools to which we currently transport.
The core curriculum areas are reading, writing, phonics, and mathematics. We use the following curriculum programs in the Kindergarten class: Reading A to Z, Everyday Math, and Discovery Science. We also use formal phonics and handwriting programs. Field trips to the local library are conducted bi-weekly. Our Kindergarten teachers are highly qualified and experienced in teaching Kindergarten and preparing children for first grade. Our curriculum meets and often exceeds the guidelines for the surrounding school districts.
Our Private Kindergarten classrooms follow the traditional school-year calendar of the Cherry Creek School District. We recognize all major holidays, teacher in-service days, as well as fall, winter, spring, and summer breaks. During these times, camp days are offered with no Kindergarten instruction. Field trips to many fun and exciting places are offered during camp weeks.
9:45 a.m. – Morning Snack – bananas and water
10:00 a.m. – Language Arts and Small Group Reading – journal writing – “what is little?” read Little in small groups, and draw something big and little on dry erase boards
11:00 a.m. – Lunch – chef salad, breadstick, fruit cocktail, and milk
11:40 – Group Reading and Centers – read chapter from Magic Tree House, use the scale to weigh different classroom items, Legos to build a house for a family, and make a sentence sandwich
12:30 – Outside Time – play Simon Says, jump ropes, and soccer
1:30 p.m. – Everyday Mathematics – matching coin game, play Top It, and build 3-D shapes with pipe cleaners
2:15 p.m. – Social Studies, Science, and Art – symmetry painting and discuss animal families
3:00 p.m. – Kindergarten Ends
